It’s been another busy week for executive appointments at cruise companies and hotels.
This week Carnival Corporation made a number of new hires and promotions in its ethics and compliance team, which is led by Peter Anderson, chief ethics and compliance officer. Kelly Clark will serve as senior vice president, deputy chief ethics and compliance officer, supporting the overall implementation of the ethics and compliance program. She has previously served in ethics and compliance roles at two Carnival Corp. brands, Holland America Line and Seabourn. Chris Donald has been named senior vice president, environmental corporate compliance manager, responsible for overseeing and implementing all legal obligations in the company’s environmental compliance plan. He has been with the company since 2007. Greg Ellis, who has spent over 23 years with Carnival Corp., will serve as vice president, health, safety and security corporate compliance manager, ensuring the regulatory compliance and effectiveness of the company’s global health, safety and security programs, while Martha de Zayas has been named vice president, general corporate compliance manager, with responsibility for condos of conduct, anti-corruption, anti-trust, anti-retaliation, conflicts of interest, third-party due diligence screening, economic sanctions/Office of Foreign Assets Control screening, North America data privacy and records retention, ADA programs and the corporate compliance reporting hotline program. Rounding out the team are Sandra Rowlett, vice president, incident analysis group investigations leader; H. Jordan Weitz, senior director, compliance risk management leader; and Brigett Potts, director, compliance training leader.
Also this week luxury adventure line Atlas Ocean Voyages, which is looking toward launching its first ship in 2021, announced its North American sales team. Alyssa Logan will serve as the company’s sales manager for North America, West, while Richard Sims will serve as the sales manager for North America, East.
In hotel news, Omni Hotels & Resorts announced a number of executive appointments and promotions relating to its sales, marketing and operations divisions. Sales and marketing will now ladder up under a new Commercial division led by Andrew Rubinacci, who joined the company one year ago as senior vice president of revenue management and global distribution and will now serve as chief commercial officer, responsible for driving all revenue generation across the organization, including marketing, revenue management, distribution and sales. Dan Surette, who joined the company in mid-2017, has been named chief sales officer, while Phil Yi has been promoted to vice president of marketing and communications. Dan Piotrowski has been promoted from vice president of operations to senior vice president of operations, while Devin Burns has been promoted from vice president of food and beverage to vice president of rooms and food and beverage. Finally, Chef David Harker has been promoted to corporate executive chef.
In terms of individual properties, this week 25hours Hotel Das Tour in Dusseldorf, Germany, named Anna Hoffmann as general manager, and W San Francisco named Keith Steigerwald director of operations.
Finally, UK-based luxury travel group ITC Travel Group named Phil Aird-Mash its new CEO, effective this January. He has previously held senior leadership positions in the industry, including CEO of Thomas Cook’s independent businesses, UK and deputy group chief executive of XL, managing director at MyTravel and most recently CEO and chairman of ACC Aviation Group.
