There have been more executive appointments at tour operators and cruise lines this week in the travel industry.
This week Perillo Tours appointed two new sales executives: Mina Amendola Chillemi as director of sales and marketing, Midwest, and Adele Black as executive sales support for the Northeast. Amendola Chillemi has 21 years of experience with the Italian Government Tourist Board, including the last 15 years directing the Chicago office. Black was most recently owner and president of Affluent Hospitality Group.
In cruise news, this week Celestyal Cruises named Stewart Williams regional manager, APAC. Based in Sydney, Australia, Williams most recently spent 20 years as the managing director, Australasia, for the Globus Family of Brands.
Also this week Holland America Line named the senior staff officers for its newest cruise ship, the upcoming Nieuw Statendam. Captain Sybe de Boer has been with the company since 1994, previously serving as the master of five ships. Hotel Director Don Habets joined the company in 2002, while Staff Captain Kevin Beirnaert joined in 2006. Chief Engineer Eric van Loenen also joined the cruise line in 2002, and Environmental Officer Dolf Kramer has been with the company since 2004. The new cruise ship launches this December.
In destination news, this week Discover the Palm Beaches named Mike “MJ” Jackson its new senior director, group sales. From 2005 to 2017, Jackson was a national sales manager with Destination DC, and before that he has worked with the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau, as well as in a number of hotels.
In hotel news, this week Portland-based hospitality group Provenance Hotels expanded its development team with the appointment of Karen Theissen Moyer as in-house counsel and Andrew Heilmann as vice president of acquisitions and development. Thiessen Moyer held a number of roles with Hilton prior to earning a JD/MBA, while Heilmann formerly served as vice president of acquisitions and development at GFI Hospitality.
Also this week Hosts Global named Holly Valenti as the new general manager for Hosts New Orleans and Holly Bethay as its vice president of sales following the promotion of Terry Epton from president of Hosts New Orleans to the new role of executive vice president, global brand ambassador. Valenti has most recently served as director of operations for Hosts New Orleans, while Bethay has served as the director of sales and special events for Hosts New Orleans for the past seven years.
Main Street Hospitality named Morgan Russell its manager of guest experiences across four of the group’s properties this week.
Finally, a number of individual hotels made new leadership appointments this week:
- The Hilton Quebec appointed Jean-Francois Lincourt as general manager.
- The Crowne Plaza North Augusta in South Carolina named David Sulak its director of sales and marketing.
