The American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) welcomed leaders from China's Guizhou Province to the United Nations headquarters in New York City for the purpose of furthering bilateral tourism initiatives and promoting an event bringing together the U.S. and Chinese tourism industry: the ASTA China Summit taking place in Guiyang, China November 8-12, 2017.
As a part of the Guizhou delegation's visit to the United States, the following top leaders attended the meeting at ASTA headquarters:
- Lu Yongzheng, vice governor of Guizhou Provincial People's Government
- Zhang Jibing, deputy secretary-general of Guizhou Provincial People's Government
- Li Sanqi, director-general of Guizhou Tourism Development Commission
- Ma Lei, deputy director-General of Guizhou Provincial Department of Commerce
- Luo Yu, deputy-director-general of Guizhou Provincial Foreign Affairs Office
- Yu Ling, chairman of the Board of Guizhou Tourism Investment Holding Co., Ltd
Bob Duglin, ASTA VP business development, also joined Guizhou leaders at the United Nations headquarters to sign an official Memorandum of Understanding that formalizes and solidifies the ASTA's support for developing tourism in the United States and China.
In a written release, Zane Kerby, president and CEO of ASTA, said, "The ASTA China Summit is more than just an expo – we are confident that it will be a cultural emersion experience that will resonate with our member attendees for a lifetime, and the relationships they develop will empower them to sell Guizhou for decades."
The ASTA China Summit is a 4-day event that will connect travel agents with experienced Chinese suppliers, tourism officials and their counterparts. The summit is a destination immersion in to Guiyang, located in the Guizhou Province of China. Travel agents will receive detailed destination education, access to a unique trade show, be treated to lunches and dinners, enjoy cultural entertainment as well as multiple FAM opportunities.
