Flight Centre Travel Group (FLT), the parent company of Gogo Vacations, Liberty Travel and more, reports that it is set to release a tender for the supply of its land product management and booking engine systems. FLT's Brisbane-based land procurement division will oversee the tender, which follows the company's recent deployment of new air booking systems (GDS) in some countries, the company said.
"We currently use a range of platforms, including Calypso, Switchfly, Travel Tech, Sabre, Amadeus and Softvoyage, to deliver FIT land and unique package content to our global network of shops, websites and external clients," Jason Hartley, the general manager of FLT's Global Procurement Network, said in a written statement. "Through this tender process, our aim is to deliver a global land booking and management solution aligned to the company's strategic objectives of enhancing in-store productivity and making it easier for consultants and customers to transact and interact."
Existing vendors have been invited to participate in the tender, FLT said, and enquiries should be directed to project_copernicus@flightcentre.com.au.
Streamlining booking platforms has been a major focus for travel companies recently. One of the reasons offered for the recent agreement between Apple Leisure Group (ALG) and The Mark Travel Corporation (TMTC) to combine to create an integrated leisure travel and technology solutions company. In an interview with Travel Agent, Alex Zozaya, CEO of the combined company, said that the combination would allow it to work toward “a unified platform with the ultimate goal of increasing travel agent productivity.”
FLT employs approximately 20,000 people in Australia / New Zealand, the Americas, Asia / India and EMEA, and owns 30 travel brands, including GOGO Vacations and Liberty Travel. It generates more than $20 billion in total transaction value per year globally.
