ASTA’s Global Convention 2017 is underway at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina.
Running through August 29, the event brings together hundreds of travel professionals for over 19 educational sessions, visits with over 200 suppliers and the chance to hear insights from over 75 travel industry leaders.
In addition to the announcement of the organization’s new Verified Travel Advisor program, the event also included an opening general session with ASTA CEO Zane Kerby; Arnold Donald, CEO of Carnival Corporation; Samantha Brown, travel expert and television host; Peter Greenberg, investigative reporter and producer; Scott Alvis, chief marketing officer of Amadeus North America, Inc.; Robert Ford, regional vice president, field sales at Travel Guard Insurance; Andrea Da Rosa, strategic solutions manager at Balboa Travel; Scott Adamski, head of field sales and licensing at Travel Guard Insurance; Kristin Karst, executive vice president and co-owner of AmaWaterways; and Gary Murphy, vice president of AmaWaterways.
Looking ahead, the event also includes presentations from Hawaii, Hilton, Tourism Australia and Puerto Rico. There will also be talks on the sharing economy, entrepreneurship, attracting and retaining great talent, employment law, traveler anxiety in a world of growing uncertainty, fraud prevention and solutions and more.
