Travel Leaders Group has formally acquired The Andrew Harper Travel Office and The Andrew Harper Alliance.
Travel Leaders said the move bolsters the company’s position in luxury travel. The sale enables the editorial division of Andrew Harper (publisher of the Hideaway Report, The Andrew Harper Collection and AndrewHarper.com) – which was not included in the acquisition – to remain focused on providing reviews and travel reports.
The Andrew Harper Travel Office and The Andrew Harper Alliance were both launched in 1994. The Andrew Harper Travel Office was opened to serve as a full-service travel agency to benefit Andrew Harper’s ultra-wealthy subscribers. The Andrew Harper Alliance was established as an amenity-driven hotel program – with 600 properties globally – previously available exclusively to Andrew Harper subscribers.
Andrew Harper Travel CEO John D. Cullen said that Andrew Harper Travel Office clients will continue working with the same consultants, but that ownership by Travel Leaders would offer access to a larger array of travel offerings. The editorial division of Andrew Harper will remain under its current ownership, creating a separation to eliminate any perceived conflict of interest between the publications and ownership of a travel business.
Both The Andrew Harper Travel Office and The Andrew Harper Alliance will continue to operate as they are. While the editorial division is not included in the acquisition, Travel Leaders Group is entering a commercial agreement with Andrew Harper Editorial to support certain ongoing service functions and market its memberships. No additional details of the transaction are being divulged.
