Food travel company Access Culinary Trips has rolled out its first European itineraries with programs in Italy and Croatia. The trips include cooking classes, artisanal tastings, visits to UNESCO World Heritage Sites and stays at boutique hotels.
Access Culinary Trips’ five-day Italy vacation bases itself in the Tuscan village of Cortona and includes visits to the nearby towns, and UNESCO World Heritage Sites, of Siena and Pienza. As part of the program, travelers will not only learn how to cook an authentic Tuscan Italian meal, but also take a happy hour ice cream and sorbet cocktail class.
In Pienza and Montepulciano guests will attend wine, cheese and olive oil tastings, eat an al fresco farm-to-table lunch and dine at a Michelin-starred restaurant. Other activities include participating in a traditional truffle hunt, visits to local farms and food producers, a walking tour of medieval Siena, and a trip to the UNESCO site Val d’Orcia.
The company’s Croatia trip visits another three UNESCO sites, in Dubrovnik, Split and Plitvice Lakes National Park. The trip concludes on the Istrian peninsula, where guests participate in a traditional truffle hunt followed by a truffle cooking class.
Accompanied by a local chef, guests visit a local food market to pick out fresh ingredients for a cooking class held in a private home. Travelers also head to a private island for fresh oysters and participate in a food walking tour in Dubrovnik’s Old Town. Other activities include side trips to Croatia’s iconic cities, Roman ruins and the turquoise lakes and waterfalls of Plitvice National Park.
