Alaska Helicopter Tours Expands Operations to Seward

Alaska Helicopter Tours, Southcentral Alaska’s veteran-owned helicopter adventure company, has announced expansion of operations to include Seward starting May 2025. Alaska Helicopter Tours has built a strong reputation for glacier-focused adventures the past 17 years out of its flagship location just north of Anchorage, outside of Palmer, in the Knik River Valley.

The company has witnessed high demand for helicopter-adventure experiences in Seward over the past few years, shared CEO Mike Neely. Thus, Alaska Helicopter Tours will be operating in Seward from mid-May to mid-September. Highlights include:

  • The “Seward Helicopter & Glacier Dogsled Tour” partners with the kennel of six-time Iditarod champion Dallas Seavey. This one-and-a-half-hour tour includes a flight over Kenai Fjords National Park and Seward before arriving on a glacier to gain firsthand dog-sledding and a mush-your-own team experience. Guests can enhance the tour with an upgrade option to add a landing at Bear Glacier Lagoon.
  • Take in the landscapes of the Kenai Peninsula on the 60-minute “Bear Glacier Tour.” This tour provides a unique perspective of the surrounding Kenai Mountains, Resurrection Bay, icefields, a chance to spot wildlife, and lands on the beach shores of Bear Glacier Lagoon to explore on foot while guided by the pilot.
  • For ample time and opportunity to fully experience the area, the one and a half hour “Grand Seward Ocean & Icebergs” tour includes everything that the “Seward Bear Glacier Landing” does with a longer flight time and a second landing near an ice wall.
  • Perfect for adventure enthusiasts and photo ops, the “Seward Heli Hike” is a two- or four-hour experience tailored to guests’ interests with a beach or high alpine landing, with plenty of time to explore on foot.

Besides these four tours, Alaska Helicopter Tours has partnered with Kenai Backcountry Adventures to offer two heli-adventure experiences:

  • Explore Alaska’s ancient ice on foot on the four-hour “Heli Glacier Trek,” where guests and a guide will be dropped off via helicopter next to a glacier where the trek begins.
  • Travelers looking for a more adventurous outing can book the four-hour “Heli Glacier Iceberg Raft Tour” for a scenic helicopter flight to a lakeside drop off for a guided hike and paddle among giant icebergs on the lake.
