Diethelm Travel Group, a Destination Management Company in Asia, has announced the opening of their first office in North America.
Heading up Diethelm’s new U.S. office in the position of sales director is Stephen Marshall. Originally from the UK and now based in Los Angeles, Marshall is responsible for extending the company's reach into North America by opening the company’s first in-market sales and marketing office in the heart of Hollywood.
“The number of Americans traveling to Asia was up 10 percent in 2016, highlighting the region as one of the world’s most dynamic and fast growing destinations for travelers,” said Marshall in a written statement.
Marshall most recently launched and oversaw Tourism New Zealand's inaugural luxury strategy for North America which saw the organization go on to be awarded "Tourism Board of the Year" for two years consecutively by Virtuoso. Prior, Marshall was general manager at The AOT Group, Australasia’s largest Destination Management Company.
2017 also sees Diethelm Travel celebrate 60 years in business. Originally established in 1957 originally to serve as the official ground operator for Swiss Air’s inaugural Zurich-Bangkok-Tokyo flight, Diethelm Travel is to this day the longest established DMC in Asia, said Lisa Fitzell, group managing director of Diethelm Travel Group.
