Central Holidays is offering new food and wine itineraries across Europe to complement its existing roster of culinary-focused travel programs and locally inspired travel experiences. From Italy and Spain to Croatia, Malta, and beyond here’s a glance at some of Central Holidays’ immersive culinary travel programs in Europe.
On the eight-day “Live and Eat Like a Local in Umbria with Chef Lorenzo” itinerary, travelers will learn the secrets of Italian cuisine in Umbria’s Orvieto. Participants will visit the local farmer’s market to shop for ingredients, join in three hands-on cooking classes led by Chef Lorenzo at Casale Polegri in the Umbrian countryside, and savor meals paired with wines. Highlights include a truffle hunting experience, tastings of artisanal cheeses, wine tasting experiences, tour of a buffalo mozzarella farm with a tasting, and visits of medieval Montepulciano and Civita di Bagnoragio.
On the seven-day “Sardinia, A Paradise for Gourmets and Fine Wine Lovers” itinerary, travelers will explore Cagliari on a walking tour, followed by a gourmet tour with tasting events. Other highlights include a hands-on cooking class in Pula; private guided tours and tastings of farm-to-table Sardinian foods such as local cheeses, olive oil and wines; and a fishing tour that includes lunch onboard.
Activities on the “Barcelona For Foodies” itinerary take travelers to discover one of Spain’s most famous streets, Las Ramblas; explore the Gothic Quarter; take in Antoni Gaudi’s masterpieces including Parque Guell and the Art Noveau Sagrada Familia church; and snack on local favorites at Barcelona’s most famous market, Mercat de la Boqueria. Participants will also join in a hands-on cooking class, including a market visit with lunch and drinks. This tour includes two cava wine cellar tours with wine tastings, besides a wine and tapas walking tour including tastings.
The five-day “Madrid for Foodies” program invites travelers to learn the secrets of Spanish cuisine with chef-led cooking class sessions, tapas experiences, and a half-day cava cellar tour with brunch. Guests will also join in insightful tours of Madrid and Toledo with expert guides.
Highlights of the six-day “Wine and Dine in Croatia” itinerary include wine tasting experiences in the hills of Skradin, a guided walking tour of old Dubrovnik and a cooking class and meal accompanied by wine tasting in the city. The adventure continues with a private-guided excursion to Ston and Korcula, including oyster and wine tasting experiences.
On the five-day “Malta, A Food and Wine Paradise,” travelers will discover Maltese cuisine and wine with a chef-led hands-on cooking class experience, with ingredients from the 600-acre farm just steps from the kitchen. They will also tour Malta’s Palazzo Parisio before visiting one of Valletta’s top wineries and enjoying a tasting experience.
