This St. Patrick’s Day travelers can celebrate the holiday in Ireland’s capital city on CIE Tours International’s new six-day tour. Guests will spend the day of in Dublin, seeing one of the world’s most famous St. Patrick’s Day parades, and then venture into the surrounding area during the rest of the trip, visiting some of the country’s historic sites.
Travelers will start the holiday off with a behind-the-scenes tour of Dublin’s parade preparations before heading to a private party at the historic General Post Office. After the celebration, guests will step outside to watch the parade from a prime viewing spot. The procession will wind through the historic city center, with vivid displays and music performed by international bands.
The whole trip will run from March 14 to 19. Using Dublin as a home base, travelers will also:
- Visit Stone Age tombs at Newgrange that are older than the Egyptian pyramids
- Dine in the church where brewer Arthur Guinness was married and playwright Sean O’Casey was baptized
- Tour Dublin, drink a pint at the Guinness Storehouse and sample whiskey in a popular distillery
- See the ruins of Glendalough, where Irish monks preserved much of western civilization during Europe’s Dark Ages
