DuVine Cycling + Adventure Co. has announced new itineraries for 2024. Destinations include Slovenia, an emerging active travel destination; Norway, northern Europe’s cycling frontier; and a Dordogne-Bordeaux trip combining two regions in Southwestern France. In 2024, the tour operator will have renewed emphasis on high-end hotels as a cornerstone of its tours.
New + Notable 2024 Departures
- “Slovenia Bike Tour:” This redesigned itinerary in the Slovenian Alps averages 2,000 feet of daily elevation gain—a sweet spot for e-bikers or practiced cyclists. Travelers will briefly bike into Italy for a Slow Food lunch, taste wines grown between the two countries, and explore the Karst, a plateau that defines the border and is recognized for its PGI prosciutto and wine. Routes meander through the Vipava Valley while also retracing the paths of both World Wars. Departures: May 19–24, October 6–11. Level: 3
- “Norway Bike Tour:” This six-day trip explores Sunnmøre, a region where traffic-free roads lead to alpine lakes, pass farms clinging to sheer slopes, and switch back and forth across waterfalls. Accommodations include Juvet Landscape Hotel—as seen in HBO’s “Succession”—while culinary experiences include gathering mussels in a remote village and meeting a fisherman whose morning catch will be served for dinner. Departures have yet to be announced.
- “Dordogne + Bordeaux Bike Tour:” The six-day itinerary moves through two distinct regions of Southwestern France: beginning in the lesser-known Dordogne, guests canoe the Dordogne River, visit the UNESCO-listed Lascaux caves to witness Cro-Magnon paintings, and bike to a wine tasting at a storybook château. As they ride, scenery shifts from carved cliffs and forested countryside to vineyards in neighboring Bordeaux. Departures: May 12–17, May 26–31, June 9–14, August 25–30, September 1–6, September 8–13. Level: 2
- “Strade Bianche Bike Tour:” For serious cyclists, DuVine opens doors to the cycling-crazed enclave in and around Siena during the Strade Bianche—Italy’s answer to the Tour de France on Tuscany’s white gravel roads. Guests will enjoy five-star accommodations steps from the race village, rides along some of the most thrilling sections of the course one day before the pros, access to roadside action on race day, and the opportunity to join the Gran Fondo Strade Bianche—plus pro-level support from a team of guides, soigneurs and mechanics. Departures: February 28–March 4, 2024. Level: 4
Hotel-Forward Itineraries
- “Super Tuscany Bike Tour:” Guests spend two nights at Castello di Casole, the Belmond hotel housed in a countryside castle. After bicycling into Siena, they’ll check in at Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco for the duration of the tour. The following days include cycling routes on the Crete Senesi and through the Val d’Orcia. Departures: September 1–6, 2024. Level: 3
- “Vermont Twin Farms Bike Tour:” This four-day tour spends all three nights at Twin Farms, a Relais & Châteaux resort in Barnard, VT. Guests unpack once, then bike beside the Ottauquechee River, beneath colorful leaf canopies on fall departures, and to hyper-local farms for seasonal lunches. Each night’s dinner reveals a new side of Twin Farms’ food philosophy, whether centered around the wood-fired grill or Chef Nathan Rich’s expert treatment of estate-grown ingredients. Departures: May 20–23, June 23–26, September 8–11, October 20–23. Level: 3
- “Sicily Bike Tour:” The six-day tour includes a lineup of five-star hotels such as Dimora delle Balze in Noto, boutique Villa Neri on Mt. Etna, and The Ashbee Hotel in Taormina. DuVine is the only luxury bike tour operator visiting Etna and Taormina.
