Insight Vacations has announced its newest itinerary; this time, travelers will be guided through four countries to visit the famous and festive Christmas markets in Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic and Russia.
Europe’s Christmas markets are historical Yuletide destinations, iconic for their many decorated Christmas trees, gingerbread castles, hot Glühwein (a seasonal mulled wine), carol singers and a number of artisan stalls, boutiques and art shops. The tours present an opportunity to experience winter in Europe and intimately engage local culture.
For this coming holiday season, Insight is offering four dedicated Christmas Markets Regional Journeys in addition to eight additional tours that visit multiple markets along the way. The four dedicated Christmas Markets Regional Journey are as follows:
Alpine Christmas Markets: This 10-day journey visits some of the oldest Christmas markets in four countries. In addition to guided Christmas market tours, guests can also visit Mozart’s family home in Salzburg, experience a medieval banquet of Austrian specialties and wines in Innsbruck, take scenic drives through the Tyrolean Alps and visit the medieval towns of the Black Forest in the midst of Yuletide celebration. Prices begin at $1,995 per person.
Christmas Markets of Austria and Bavaria: Guests on this journey will visit three holiday markets on a nine-day itinerary through Austria and Germany. In addition, guests can also take a private tour of Maria Theresa’s Schönbrunn Palace in Salzburg, go on a horse-drawn carriage ride through Innsbruck, explore the fairytale castle of Neuschwanstein and see the famous Glockenspiel in the Marienplatz in Munich. Prices begin at $1,875 per person.
Christmas Markets of Poland, Prague & Germany: This nine-day trip focuses on the Christmas markets and culture of central and Eastern Europe. Guests can experience old-world Polish culture in Kraków on Wawel Hill, take in scenic views of Prague from Prague Castle, try traditional German Christmas bread in Dresden and visit the famous Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin. Prices begin at $1,725 per person.
Easy-Pace Russia with Christmas Markets: On this nine-day journey through Russia, guests can get a taste of the traditional Russian Orthodox Christmas. Palaces where Czars once lived are available for tours, along with guided tours through Russian museums. The annual International Winter Festival will be in full swing when guests arrive in St. Petersburg, where they can learn about Russian history from a local expert at the imperial tombs. In Moscow, Christmas markets will have street music, art and food. Guests are also invited to take a tour inside the walls of the Kremlin. Prices begin at $1,995 per person.
