Insight Vacations and Luxury Gold, two brands of The Travel Corporation, have announced Jon Grutzner will take over as their new U.S.A. president, replacing current president Phil Cappelli.
The two will work together until the end of May, when Cappelli officially steps down, according to Ulla Hefel Böhler, Global CEO of Insight Vacations and Luxury Gold.
Böhler, who joined the company just last year, praised Grutzner for his “stellar track record, superb trade relationships and a phenomenal passion for travel, with an emphasis on providing exceptional service, quality and experiences.”
Grutzner is an industry veteran with over 25 years of strategic sales experience in the guided vacations, hotel and cruise sectors. For the past six years he held the role of director of sales at Azamara Club Cruises. Prior to Azamara, Grutzner has held management roles with Collette Vacations, Reader’s Digest and Carlson Leisure Group. In the same written release, Grutzner called his new role a “dream job.”
Cappelli decided to step down in order to spend more time with his family after a very rigorous travel schedule the last five years, saying that “reaching this decision to leave has been very difficult for me and it was made with an abundance of consideration and diligence.” His accomplishments include growing U.S. business by over 40 percent in the past four years, winning notable trade partner and industry awards, and receiving three consecutive Insight Vacations “Office of the Year” awards.
