Abercrombie & Kent’s Luxury Expedition Cruising services used to operate almost exclusively in the polar regions. Recently however, A&K has announced that next fall the brand-new, exclusively-chartered, 150-guest megayacht La Laperouse will set sail on its inaugural cruise through the Greek Islands. Notably, La Laperouse is the first ship to have an underwater lounge, though it also has a spa, fitness center, heated outdoor infinity pool and a marina with a hydraulic platform.
The Cruising the Greek Isles experience brings guests alongside A&K’s enrichment experts to Greece’s major tourism spots—the capital city of Athens, Santorini, Mykonos and Crete--as well as the lesser-known islands of Rhodes, Symi, Delos (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and Syros for an immersive exploration of Greece. Guests will be sailing from October 10 to October 19, 2018.
The experience allows guests to choose up to three shore excursions each day of the ten-day voyage. The itinerary is designed to touch upon a broad range of interests and activities such as history, culture, art, nature, architecture, and food and wine. Such excursions include a tour through the Benaki Museum in Athens, which contains Bronze Age jewelry and Byzantine icons, and a climb through the crater of a still-active volcano on Nea Kameni. However, guests can also work with A&K’s new Onboard Concierge Service to arrange private experiences on the shores of Greece, such as personal guided tours.
Guests can enjoy gourmet dining, drinks and entertainment aboard La Laperouse. At the end of the tour, after disembarking at Athens, guests can return home or join the optional extension package which explores the Northern mainland of Greece.
Prices begin at $8,995 for the Category 1 Classic Stateroom and can range up to $26,995 for the Category 8 Owner’s Balcony Suite. Booking by December 31, 2017 can save $1,000 per person in Cabin Categories 1, 2, and 3.
