Tauck's newest safari, “Great Migration: Tanzania & Kenya,” will help travelers witness the annual large-scale migration of over a million animals. As part of the itinerary, guests will spend three nights at a mobile safari camp the company will relocate throughout the year to the best wildlife-viewing areas along the route.
Tauck’s Great Migration trip will be a nine-day, small-group safari limited to 18 guests. The company will offer departure dates from January through March and from June through December.
The itinerary will begin with an overnight at the Rivertrees Country Inn in Makumira, Tanzania at the foothills of Mount Meru. After they leave, guests will eat lunch overlooking Lake Manyara National Park, as they travel to a two-night stay at Kitela Lodge outside the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. While here, travelers will go on a game drive and have a picnic lunch inside Ngorongoro Crater.
Next, guests will fly to the Serengeti to begin a three-night stay at the Legendary Serengeti Mobile Camp. Traveling with the migration to increase wildlife-viewing opportunities, the mobile camp offers the best chance to witness the herds of wildebeests, zebras and gazelles as they travel around eastern Africa. Each guest’s tent will be outfitted with en-suite facilities, retractable canvas walls and a safari bucket shower.
The last two nights of the itinerary bring guests to &Beyond’s Kichwa Tembo tented camp in the Masai Mara National Reserve for additional game drives and leisure time. Other trip highlights will include an early morning hot air balloon ride, a champagne breakfast in the bush and a guided visit to the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage.
