Travelers looking to combine a St. Patrick’s Day trip to Ireland with a longer tour of the country can find several options among Vagabond’s collection this year. Vagabond Small Group Tours of Ireland offers three options, all traveling roundtrip out of Dublin, with beginning or ending dates around the classic Irish holiday.
On the first day of Vagabond’s seven-day World Tour of Ireland, guests make their way to Clare, hitting the scenic Dunguaire Castle, the ancient Poulnabrone Dolmen and the iconic Cliffs of Moher. At the tour’s next stop, Kerry, travelers can take a surfing lesson, go on a short hike or simply enjoy some time at the beach. After a nearly full day in Dingle, the tour makes its way to Killarney National Park, where visitors can go on a cycling tour or explore on their own. Over the next couple days, guests will visit Kenmare and West Cork, with opportunities for scenic hikes along the way. Before the tour returns to Dublin, travelers will visit Blarney Castle, with its famous Blarney Stone, and the monastery at the Rock of Cashel.
The eight-day Wild Irish Rover Tour will include many of the same destinations, except with an added stop at the beginning of the trip in Connemara, a region known for its scenic landscape. While here, guests will visit a sheep farm on the shores of Killary fjord, either summit Diamond Hill or see a shrine to St. Patrick, stop at Kylemore Abbey and spend the night at Abbeyglen Castle Hotel. Both this trip and the World Tour of Ireland will depart on March 10, 17 and 24.
Vagabond’s seven-day Driftwood Treasure Ireland Tour will mirror the Wild Irish Rover Tour up through the full day in Dingle. After a car tour of Killarney National Park, guests will make their way through the mountains as they head to Glengarriff, stopping at least one peak to allow travelers to take photos. After a day in the Beara peninsula, the trip concludes like the other two, with the return drive to Dublin and stops at Blarney Castle and the Rock of Cashel on the way. Vagabond offers departure dates for the tour on March 11, 18 and 25.
