The Wilderness Group has added an e-bike trip page to all its sites, covering new active tours exploring the Scottish islands, Ireland’s West Coast and England’s Cotswolds. The group consists of the brands Wilderness Scotland, Wilderness Ireland and Wilderness England.
“E-bikes are a silent revolution helping to make the magic of cycling accessible to many more people for longer,” said Stevie Christie, managing director, Wilderness Scotland. “Available as an option on cycling trips alongside normal bikes, they level up the group, taking the strain out of cycling consecutive days. For anyone who loves life on two wheels but are worried about keeping up, it’s the perfect option and you still earn your café stops.”
Here are highlights of the new e-bike journeys available in 2024:
Wilderness Scotland
- “The Orkney Islands:” On this six-day adventure, explore quiet roads, discover quaint towns and beautiful beaches, visit ancient standing stones, archeological sites and museums, and cycle through flowering machair. The days are nicely paced, and each night is spent in cozy accommodations, complete with delicious food and warm hospitality.
- “The Outer Hebrides:” Traverse five islands on this seven-day tour. Starting in the Highland town of Inverness, the group first travels over to Uig on the Isle of Skye, then on to the islands of North Uist, South Uist, Harris and Lewis. Days are spent winding along quiet, single-track roads that traverse wildflower-strewn machair and open moorland. The trip will also include a stop at a local distillery and a traditional weaver’s workshop.
Wilderness Ireland
- “Ireland’s West Coast:” Described by poet Seamus Heaney as a place to “catch the heart off guard and blow it open,” on this seven-day trip, explore Ireland’s landscape via e-bike. Travel through Connemara’s windswept boglands, the limestone landscape of the Burren and the white sand beaches of Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way.
Wilderness England
- “The Cotswolds:” This seven-day tour starts in Oxford, offering an up-close exploration of a landscape dotted with honey-colored villages, old deciduous woodlands and green fields. Days unfold at a leisurely pace, visiting ancient ruins, manor houses and cathedrals in Burford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Bibury, Westonbirt and more. Along the way, the group will stop at cafés and traditional pubs for lunches. Every evening is spent at a hand-picked accommodation, chosen for location, hospitality and attentive staff.
