Zegrahm Expeditions, a travel company specializing in small-ship cruises and overland adventures, has announced the addition of five new African safaris to its 2018-2019 slate. The new tours, which include less frequently visited destinations such as Ethiopia, the Republic of the Congo and Zimbabwe, bring the company’s total roster of African offerings to 16.
Kenya & Tanzania Under Canvas is a 14-day expedition that visits luxury tented camps in remote wilderness areas. Highlights include visits to East Africa’s largest black rhino sanctuary, scouting for apex predators on Tanzania’s Namiri Plains and staying at a mobile camp that follows vast herds along their Great Migration.
The 13-day Ultimate Kenya tour offers a more in-depth exploration of Kenya, with stays in some of the country’s most exclusive safari camps. In addition to twice-daily game drives, the itinerary includes "flightseeing" over the Maasai Mara, a visit to the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and an interactive experience with a local Maasai community.
Iconic Africa is a 13-day expedition that explores two safari destinations, the Maasai Mara in Kenya and Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe. In Kenya, guests will stay at a remote safari camp, accessible only by boat, next to a watering hole with wildlife activity. Zimbabwe activities include a sunset Zambezi River cruise to Victoria Falls.
The 13-day Gorillas of the Congo expedition explores Odzala-Kokoua National Park in the Republic of the Congo, including gorilla and primate treks, river cruises, and hikes in search of rare species such as chimpanzees, pygmy hippos and the bongo.
The 16-day Ultimate Ethiopia journey visits several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Simien Mountains National Park, the churches of Lalibela, the ancient castles of Gondar and Bale Mountains National Park.
