Air France is updating its Economy and Premium Economy cabins. The new product will roll out on the airline’s 15 Airbus A330s, which will be refitted starting in January 2019. Air France is also updating the color scheme and adding more products and services to all of its long-haul flights.
The new Economy cabin will have more space between the armrests at approximately 17 inches, Air France said. Seats will also have reinforced ergonomic foam, a 118-degree recline, approximately 31 inches of legroom, a larger tray table and a wider, 11.7-inch 16:9 touchscreen.
Economy interiors will also be updated with deep blue monochrome fabric signed with Air France’s symbol on the cushions and headrests. New blankets and collectible night masks inspired by the company’s destinations are also available.
Economy seats will also have a USB plug and an individual electronic socket to allow guests to use their electronic devices throughout the flight, as well as audio headsets. Additionally, Air France is progressively installing onboard Wi-Fi throughout its fleet.
In the new Premium Economy cabin, seats will have a 130-degree in a fixed shell, a width of approximately 19 inches, approximately 40 inches of seat pitch, lumbar support adapted to different body shapes, a wider footrest, and a 13.3 inch HD screen. The seat cushions and leather armrests have also been redesigned. Additionally, on Air France’s long-haul flights, each customer will receive a red feather pillow and a blue blanket, as well as a comfort kit, which is renewed every six months.
In terms of other new onboard experiences, Air France is adding a welcome oshibori – a small hand towel inspired by a Japanese hospitality tradition – to customers as they arrive onboard. At aperitif time, guests will receive a complimentary glass of champagne.
For in-flight meals, Air France is rolling out a new collection of powder-colored tableware on a black background. A "My Little Gourmandises" gourmet snack is available on a self-service basis on flights longer than 8 hours 30 minutes.
On flights lasting between 8 hours 30 minutes and 10 hours 30 minutes, customers are offered a "Bon Appétit" breakfast bag containing snacks to take with them or to eat on board. Upon arrival, customers receive a French-style candy.
