There’s been a number of new domestic routes announced this week in air travel news, plus another major U.S. airline updated its policy on emotional support animals.
This week United Airlines announced that it is expanding service from its hubs at New York - Newark and Washington - Dulles airports. From Newark, the airline is adding nonstop, seasonal mainline service to Palm Springs, as well as adding additional frequencies to existing destinations and larger, two-cabin aircraft. It is also shifting service to Chattanooga, Tennessee, Ithaca, New York, and Scranton, Pennsylvania, from Newark to Washington - Dulles.
In other domestic travel news this week, Delta announced it will launch daily nonstop service between Boston Logan International Airport and Philadelphia starting October 1. The service will be flown four times daily on CRJ-900 aircraft operated by Delta Connection carrier Endeavor Air.
In international news, this week German airline Condor announced that it is adding a new hub in the United States: Phoenix. Service from Phoenix kicked off May 18.
Finally, this week American Airlines became the latest major U.S. carrier to update its policies regarding emotional support animals. Customers will now be required to provide documentation 48 hours in advance of travel, and the airline has expanded prohibited animal types to include insects, hedgehogs and goats. The new policy takes effect July 1, and a full list of the new rules is available here.
