New flights and new benefits for corporate travelers lead this week’s air travel news.
This week United Airlines launched United Corporate Preferred, a new corporate travel program offering escalating benefits at three levels: United Corporate Preferred, United Corporate Preferred Plus and United Corporate Preferred Elite. Eligibility for the new program is determined by a corporation's contract status, revenue contribution and loyalty with United. Benefits include preferred upgrades and standby, while the Elite tier offers additional travel waiver flexibility and preferred boarding and seating.
In new flight news, this week Aeromexico announced plans to add seasonal, twice-weekly flights to Belize, which the airline says will make it the first major Mexican commercial carrier to offer such a service to the country. The new, nonstop service will run November 17, 2018, through April 28, 2019.
In Europe, Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) announced this week that it is adding daily departures between Boston and Copenhagen as part of its summer 2019 schedule. The new service will run May 6, 2019, through September 27, 2019, and increase from four weekly departures.
Finally, in onboard product news, this week Delta reported it has installed its 600th aircraft with seat-back entertainment, fulfilling the airline’s year-end commitment early. Delta Studio is free to all customers in all cabins, offering a selection of movies, TV show episodes, songs, podcasts, games and 12 channels of live satellite TV (on select flights). Customers can also stream Delta Studio to their personal devices on the airline’s entire mainline fleet and most regional aircraft.
