Avianca to Launch Flights Between Boston and Bogota Beginning June 2

Starting on June 2, Avianca will inaugurate its Boston-to-Bogota, Colombia, flights, becoming the first and only airline to connect these two cities directly, according to an Avianca news release.

The new route will operate four times per week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday on the Bogota-to-Boston route, and on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday on the Boston-to-Bogota route.

Avianca will operate from Terminal E at the Boston Logan International Airport to the El Dorado Airport in Bogota, on Airbus A319 aircraft with a capacity for 120 passengers, 12 in Business Class and 108 on Economy Class, for a total of 960 weekly seats.

“With this link, Avianca becomes the first and only airline to directly join Boston with Bogota and vice versa, connecting travelers coming from the state of Massachusetts more efficiently to the main capitals in Latin America,” said Hernan Rincon, president of Avianca, in a written statement. “On their part, travelers from South America will be able to fly more easily to key destinations in New England.”

The schedule on which the Boston-to-Bogota route will operate expands connection possibilities – through the Bogota hub – with destinations such as Quito and Guayaquil, EcuadorLimaPeruRio de Janeiro, Brazil; and Santiago, Chile. It also increases the possibilities to arrive to destinations within Colombia, such as Cali, Medellin, Barranquilla, Pereira and Cartagena, among other cities.

LifeMiles Silver, Gold and Diamond Elite members, as well as Star Alliance Gold and Priority Passengers and/or Business Class passengers can access Avianca’s VIP room located on the third floor of El Dorado’s international terminal, including special spaces to work, socialize, rest, eat and even freshen up.
