Belmond Ltd. has announced its plans to launch its first train in Ireland in the summer of 2016, called the Belmond Grand Hibernian.
The sleeper train, with materials acquired from Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail, will be composed of 10 carriages with 20 cabins that can hold up to 40 guests.
The train will also include four interconnecting suites, two restaurant cars and an observation bar car, all designed in a Georgian style.
The Belmond Grand Hiberian will offer two-, four-, and six-night packages and travel to destinations in the North and South, such as Dublin, Belfast and Cork. Similar to a land tour, it will include daily excursions like tours of historic estates, the Titanic Belfast center, golf, or engaging with some of Ireland’s writers, musicians and artists.
John Scott, president and CEO, said, “Ireland offers today’s luxury traveler a rich and diverse cultural experience, with unrivalled scenery and warm hospitality that fit perfectly with Belmond’s offering of enriching and authentic hotel, rail and river cruise experiences.”
Reservations are set to open early next year.
