Condor Airlines has stepped in to assist passengers left stranded after Icelandic low-cost carrier PLAY abruptly ceased operations this week, leaving travelers across the Atlantic scrambling for alternatives.
The airline, which had marketed itself as a transatlantic bridge via Iceland, suspended flights after running out of funds and announced it would be filing for bankruptcy protection. Many passengers had relied on PLAY connections to reach destinations such as Berlin, Paris and Prague.
Condor, which bills itself as Germany’s most popular “bleisure” airline, said it will offer special rescue fares through November 30, 2025. The discounted rates apply on Condor’s transatlantic routes to or from Berlin (BER), Paris (CDG) and Prague (PRG), with connections via Frankfurt (FRA).
“At Condor, we believe travel should bring people together, not leave them behind. By extending this helping hand, we hope to ease the inconvenience faced by PLAY’s customers during this period of disruption,” said Daniel de Carvalho, interim marketing and communications director.
To access the rescue fares, affected PLAY passengers must email proof of their original booking along with full contact details to reservation@condor.com. Condor’s customer care team will then reach out directly to arrange the booking.
