Strikes are set to continue disrupting air and rail travel in France through at least early May.
According to the latest statement from Air France, several of the airline’s staff unions have called for strikes on May 3 - 4 and May 7 – 8. The airline said that it remains too early to evaluate the possible impact of the actions on its flight schedule, but that as soon as it has a more accurate estimate of the number of employees participating it will update its flight schedule accordingly. The strikes affect flights operated by Air France and Joon but not other airlines, such as Hop!, KLM and Delta.
Air France customers scheduled to fly on one of the above strike dates can rebook through May 27, although it is recommended that they avoid rebooking on another strike day. Customers can also postpone their trip after May 27, change their destination or departure city or cancel their trip, in which case they will receive a nonrefundable voucher valid for one year on Air France, Joon, KLM or Hop! flights.
Delta has also issued a change waiver for customers set to fly May 3 – 9 on a flight operated by Air France, Hop! or Joon. Customers can rebook through May 27, with the new ticket to be reissued on or before May 15.
In terms of rail travel, national operator SNCF reports that its operations continue to be disrupted by the national strike. Information on the next day’s schedule is posted daily at 5 p.m. local time on the SNCF website, app and other information channels.
