Frontier Airlines will launch of new flights from Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) to Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The new Frontier flights are available three times per week, and will provide travelers from Northeast Florida with direct access to the island in the Caribbean, just in time for the peak travel season and San Juan’s 500th anniversary celebrations.
The Jacksonville service is a new addition to the many direct connections to the Caribbean island via Frontier Airlines from major mainland airports, including: O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois; Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Atlanta; Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey; Philadelphia International Airport in Pennsylvania; Miami International Airport and Orlando International Airport in Florida; and Raleigh-Durham International Airport in North Carolina.
In addition to this increased airlift, Puerto Rico has witnessed record-breaking tourism numbers and growth in 2021. According to the latest data, as of October, passenger arrivals have surpassed previous records with five months of record arrivals. Puerto Rico is also focused on following health and safety protocols. The island is currently leading all U.S. states and territories in COVID-19 vaccination rates with roughly 89 percent of the eligible population having received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Around 81 percent of its population is fully vaccinated, according to the data available on the government’s official website.
