A major strike in France is set to case flight disruptions Tuesday.
Air France said that the DGAC (French Civil Aviation Authority) has requested airlines to reduce flights from airports in Paris, as well as certain regional airports. The airline said that on Tuesday it plans to transport all customers on its long-haul network to and from Paris – Charles de Gaulle and Paris Orly airports. It will also operate nearly 75 percent of its short- and medium-haul flight program, although there may still be some last-minute delays and cancellations. Air France’s flight schedule has been updated, while some updates to HOP’s schedule are still pending. The full list of canceled flights is available here.
Air France guests with a ticket issued on or before October 7 for a flight October 10 can rebook either through October 9 or from October 11 to 13 at no extra cost. Guests can also postpone their flight after October 13, change their country of destination or origin, or cancel their trip, in which case they will be entitled to a non-refundable voucher valid for one year on Air France, KLM or HOP flights.
American Airlines will waive change fees for customers flying through October 9, to rebook through October 12 between the same city pair in the same cabin (or pay the difference).
For Delta flights operated by Air France and HOP, customers flying October 10 can rebook through October 13, with the ticket to be reissued on or before that date.
According to The Local France, the strike was called by nine unions representing the country’s public service workers to protest a number of employment reforms. About 130 demonstrations and gatherings are planned across 90 of the country’s 96 departments. 5.4 million workers have been called on to join the strike.
