The Calgary Airport Authority has announced the opening of YYC Calgary International Airport’s new international terminal. The opening of the new terminal marks the completion of the largest single infrastructure program in the airport’s history.
With the opening, all U.S. and international flight operations at YYC have moved to the new terminal facility. The new two million square foot terminal has added 24 aircraft gates to YYC. New technologies and processes have been designed and implemented to streamline the passenger experience throughout the new terminal and airport. These include North America’s first call-to-gate passenger boarding system, North America’s first full CASTA Plus enhanced passenger screening system, enhanced U.S. and Canadian customs technology, a state of the art Crisbag tote-based baggage system and more.
The new YYC LINK, a custom-designed, Canadian built passenger shuttle service, will transport passengers between domestic and international facilities.
The Calgary Airport Authority is responsible for the management, operation and development of YYC – Calgary International Airport as well as Springbank Airport (YBW). The new terminal project was completed through YYC’s Airport Development Program.
The completion of the project will make getting the airport’s 13,000 people on 300 flights per day in and out of the airport more efficient and adds an opportunity for additional international flights.
