With some travelers still setting off on their post-Christmas travel plans, a blizzard is disrupting flights in the Midwest and northern plains area of the United States.
According to the latest forecast from Accuweather, the storm is bringing gusty winds and blizzard conditions to an area ranging from parts of Kansas to Minnesota into Thursday night, while heavy rain and localized flooding are in store for an area ranging from Kansas City, Missouri, to Omaha, Nebraska; Des Moines, Iowa; St. Louis; Chicago; Milwaukee; and Detroit. The snow could also continue into Friday over parts of the Upper Midwest and Ontario, Canada.
A number of airlines have issued flight change waivers due to the storm for customers flying through December 27.
American Airlines is allowing customers set to fly through airports in North and South Dakota, Wisconsin and Minnesota to rebook through December 30 between the same city pair iand in the originally ticketed cabin (or pay the difference).
Customers on Delta can rebook through December 30, with the new ticket to be reissued on or before that date.
On United Airlines, customers can rebook through December 30 in the originally ticketed cabin (any fare class) and between the same city pair.
Finally, customers on Frontier Airlines can rebook with rebooked travel to be completed no later than Friday, January 4.
