Yankee Leisure Group (YLG) has announced the promotion of John Vavrina to vice president of sales, Railbookers U.S. He will lead all sales and marketing efforts for YLG’s Railbookers brand in North America, including overseeing national and international partnerships, and managing the U.S. business development team.
Vavrina has been with YLG for over three years, and previously served as Director of Inside Sales for YLG’s Amtrak Vacations and Yankee Holidays brands. He brings over 25 years of sales and management experience to YLG, and since joining the company in 2015, has contributed to a 20 percent increase in year over year sales for the Amtrak Vacations and Yankee Holidays brands.
Railbookers also announced the expansion of its pre- and post-river cruise rail vacation packages. The new itineraries give river cruise travelers the ability to extend their vacation by train to destinations in Europe before or after their cruise.
One example is Paris and London from Amsterdam, which offers travelers the opportunity to visit Paris and London by rail with port of call in Amsterdam at the western end of the Rhine river. Another package, Bergen, Flam and Oslo, lets travelers experience the fjords of Norway, via the Flam Railway, before or after their cruise from Basel.
Other pre- and post-river cruise packages include Munich and Frankfurt from Passau, Prague and Berlin from Budapest, and Lucerne and Zurich from Basel. The vacations include all rail, accommodations, transfers, tours and sightseeing, and they are customizable so travelers can add additional days, reverse the itinerary, and experience destinations at their own pace.
