Ryanair says that its flight schedule for Thursday, August 22 and Friday, August 23 will go ahead as scheduled despite a planned strike by UK members of the British Airline Pilots’ Association (BALPA) over a compensation dispute. In its latest statement the airline said that it does not expect any significant travel disruptions on Thursday or Friday, although it cannot rule out “some small flight delays and/or flight changes.”
Ryanair is advising all passengers scheduled to travel on flights to or from UK airports on Thursday and Friday to arrive at their departure airport as normal.
The airline lost a bid late Wednesday in the Irish High Court for an injunction to block the strike by BALPA pilots. Earlier that day, it had won an injunction to block a strike by Irish pilots represented by the FORSA Union that had also been planned for Thursday and Friday.
In its statement on the latest decision BALPA said that it has offered a “framework” to allow negotiations with Ryanair if the airline agrees. In addition to the strike planned for August 22 – 23, a second round of strike dates is planned for September 2 – 4.
