Sixt Rent-a-Car, an affordable luxury car rental service, officially opened for business in San Diego with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the San Diego International Airport. The ceremony was led by Jerry Sanders- the former San Diego mayor and current president of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce.
With the grand opening, Sixt becomes the latest service in the $10 billion tourism industry in San Diego, bringing its world-renowned car service to the large market of leisure and tourism.
Recently, the company has focused heavily on upgrading and improving its existing locations as well as expanding to new areas, even though it already has more than 2,000 locations in over 100 countries. Last month, the company unveiled a newly-expanded space that will enable it to keep up with the growing demand in its original U.S. market at the Miami International Airport.
Sixt Rent-a-Car entered the U.S. market in 2011, beginning with a fleet of 500 vehicles at its first location at the Miami International Airport. Since then, it has grown its operations and now has 2,500 vehicles in the Miami market alone.
Today, the company has grown into the 5th largest car rental company in the United States, with over 750 employees and 50 rental locations located in California, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Washington, Texas, Connecticut, New Jersey, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Arizona, and Massachusetts.
Founded in 1912, Sixt's headquarters are registered in Pullach near Munich and has representations all over the world. Sixt maintains alliances with renowned brands in the hotel industry, well-known airlines, and numerous prominent service providers in the tourism sector.
