New York’s LaGuardia Airport led the United States in terms of cancelled flights in 2017, according to a new report on flight cancellations by InsureMyTrip.com. According to the report, Winter Storm Stella was a contributing factor to LaGuardia’s high spot on the list, with the number of grounded flights spiking in March.
According to the study, the airports with the highest percentages of flight cancellations in 2017 are:

- Despite the rise in canceled flights for Atlanta, the airport was average, in terms of percentages — with 1.49 percent of scheduled departures calling it quits.
- Bad weather is the top reason for flight delays and cancellations.
- Overall, flight delays are far more common than canceled flights.
InsureMyTrip compiled the report based on data from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
