Sunrise Airways has expanded its service to Cuba with the recent launch of its first-ever flights to Havana.
The twice weekly service connects two of the Caribbean’s principal cities – Havana and Port-au-Prince, Haiti – aboard a 180-seat Airbus A320. Flights depart Haiti on Sundays and Thursday at 8 a.m. and arrive in Havana at 10:30 a.m. Return flights depart at 11:30 a.m. and drive in Haiti at 1:30 p.m.
Connecting service will also be available through Port-au-Prince aboard Sunrise Airways flights originating in Cap Haitien and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
“We’re elevating the flight experience between Havana and Port-au-Prince to new heights of excellence,” said Philippe Bayard, president of Sunrise Airways, in a written release. “Sunrise enters the Havana market committed to providing the legendary city with equally legendary service.”
From its hub in Port-au-Prince, the Haitian-owned carrier currently serves Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (SDQ and JBQ); Camaguey (CMW) and Santiago de Cuba (SCU) in Cuba; and Cap Haitien (CAP). New flights to/from Kingston, Jamaica (KIN); Santiago, Dominican Republic (STI); Providenciales, Turks and Caicos (PLS); and Nassau, The Bahamas (NAS) are planned for 2017-2018, pending government approval.
“Our current application to the Jamaican Civil Aviation Authority features a total of 25 possible new routes,” said Philippe Bayard, president of Sunrise Airways, in a written release last year. “Unique to our plan, Sunrise intends to be the only airline serving all three of Jamaica’s international gateways – Norman Manley in Kingston, Sangster International in Montego Bay, and Ian Flemming International Airport in Ocho Rios – with overseas flights.” In line with the expansion of its route network, Sunrise Airways has initiated service aboard a 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft.
Headquartered in Port-au-Prince, Sunrise Airways is a privately owned corporation with registered offices in Haiti.
