Tropical Storm Pilar is disrupting flights in Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan, Mexico.
According to the latest update from the National Hurricane Center, the storm is currently about 50 miles southwest of Mazatlan with maximum sustained winds near 40 mph. The storm is forecast to move along or just west of the coast of Nayarit and Sinaloa states until it dissipates in a day or so.
Tropical storm warnings remain in effect for the coast of Mexico from Cabo Corrientes north to Bahia Tempehuaya, including Las Islas Marias.
The following airlines have issued change waivers as a result of the storm:
American Airlines has issued a waiver for customers flying through Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan through September 27, with rebooked travel to take place through September 30 between the same city pair in the same cabin (or pay the difference).
United Airlines customers flying through Puerto Vallarta through September 27 can rebook through September 30.
Finally, Delta has issued a waiver for customers flying through Puerto Vallarta through September 27. Rebooked travel must take place through September 30 with the new ticket to be issued on or before that date.
The latest storm hits during an above-average hurricane season that has brought devastation to much of the Caribbean and Florida. Hurricanes Irma and Maria have caused a number of cruise lines to cancel or modify itineraries. The latest updates on destination impacts are available here.
