Vacations to Go Reports Houston-Area Employees Safe From Harvey

Since the evening of Saturday, August 26, when Hurricane Harvey struck the Gulf of Mexico and Texas, the travel company Vacations To Go has been unreachable. The city of Houston—where Vacations To Go is based—has received 26 inches of rain in the past three days and is experiencing severe flooding that is expected to continue until Thursday morning, with another 12-18 inches of rain in the forecast.

Furthermore, at least seven tornadoes have been confirmed in the Houston area, and the hurricane’s winds having knocked down numerous trees and power lines and damaged many homes. Thunderstorms have also knocked out power to thousands in the city. Both of Houston’s airports are currently closed and will remain closed until Thursday, reportedly.

Travel Agent has received a report from Alan Fox, Chairman & CEO of Vacations To Go that nearly all of the company’s 800 Houston-area employees are safe; they have been advised to remain home and not venture out into the storm. Alan Fox said that the safety of their Houston-based and coastal Texas employees is the highest priority of Vacations To Go.

The company is currently working around the clock with AT&T to restore phone lines and communication services to their Houston office. The Vacations To Go headquarters has sustained no damage, and they anticipate to be fully operational later in the week, coinciding with the storm’s passing.
