Ovation Travel Group has announced a new “Sunday in the City” mini-fam program designed to acquaint its luxury travel advisors with new and notable New York City hotels. Sunday in the City, which allows Ovation advisors to enjoy mini-fam experiences at a mix of new, freshly renovated, rebranded or classic New York City hotels, underwent a pilot program this year at several properties, and now it will be formalized for 2020.
In a written statement Paul Metselaar, CEO and chairman of Ovation Travel Group, said that the high number of Ovation clients who travel to New York makes it imperative that the organization’s advisors are knowledgeable about the city’s luxury hotel options.
“In addition to providing overnight accommodations, each Sunday in the City includes a hotel-hosted cocktail reception for our advisors, a site inspection and dinner at one of the property’s premier restaurants,” said Gina Gabbard, Ovation’s senior vice president of luxury and independent advisors. “Then, on the following Monday morning, breakfast is served to our advisors before they depart to commence their week’s business.”
Among the five hotels already hosting the Sunday in the City program have been the InterContinental New York Barclay and The Langham New York. Equinox Hotels, The Dominick and The Mark are scheduled to host upcoming mini-fams.
Protravel International and Tzell Travel Group launched a similar "Sundays in the City" program in 2017. It includes such properties as the Mandarin Oriental New York, The Beekman, Four Seasons Downtown, Crosby Hotel Baccarat Hotel and the upcoming The Whitby.
