The Rio Convention & Visitors Bureau (RCVB) has joined the United States Tour Operators (USTOA). The membership is part of RCVB’s strategic plan to promote and incentivize travel to the South American city in the U.S., one of the largest tourist markets for the city, as well as Brazil.
“As the travel industry rebound continues to gain momentum, it is important for travelers to know that major tourist destinations are once again doing everything they can to re-establish and strengthen relationships” said Terry Dale, president and CEO of USTOA. “Rio de Janeiro is an amazing destination. We are thrilled to welcome them back to the USTOA family.”
“It’s a great honor to join our esteemed colleagues as an Associate Member of the United States Tour Operators Association, recognized around the globe as the preeminent organization for North American tour operators,” said Joao H. Rodrigues, U.S. representative for the RCVB. He added, “Under the leadership of Roberta Werner, our executive director, we look forward to participating and supporting the organization’s important work and strengthening their core value of ‘Integrity in Tourism’.”
As Brazil’s chief tourist destination, Rio de Janeiro’s attractions include Christ the Redeemer (statue), Sugarloaf Mountain, Bondinho Park and Copacabana Beach. Home to the 2014 World Cup final and the 2016 Olympics and Paralympics, the city has an important legacy that speaks of its potential to host and organize mega-events.
The RCVB has increasingly intensified the promotion of the city as a destination ready to receive tourists at this time of recovery. The partnership with USTOA is valid for one year, with periodic renewal, and involves steps to attract American tourists, communication and intermediation with operators and players in the tourism sector, besides a range of benefits.
